Overview

The HydroACT Hybrid Chlorine Analyzer initially utilizes the DPD method for immediate, accurate readings right out of the box. It then intelligently uses this data to selfcalibrate the electrochemical sensor once fully stabilized. The primary output then switches from the DPD to the stable electrochemical reading, and the DPD analysis reverts to a less frequent measurement interval
(e.g., once per hour). This operational strategy, combined with specially
developed, enhanced stability DPD reagents, extends the replacement
interval from monthly to once every six months.

This dual-sensor design provides self-checking validation and leverages
the best of both DPD and electrochemical sensors to deliver immediate,
continuous, accurate, and reliable chlorine residual readings. The Hybrid
Chlorine Analyzer comes pre-mounted on a backboard and includes
consumables for the first six months of operation.

The Hybrid Chlorine Analyzer is a patented online chlorine analyzer that combines an advanced three-electrode electrochemical sensor with DPD colorimetry to deliver highly accurate and reliable chlorine residual measurements.

The analyzer starts by using the DPD colorimetric method for immediate, accurate readings, then uses those results to self-calibrate the electrochemical sensor once it stabilizes, after which the primary output switches to the continuous electrochemical measurement.

This dual approach provides self-checking validation, immediate and continuous readings, higher confidence in data, and extended reagent life, helping ensure robust disinfection monitoring with reduced maintenance.

Models are available for free chlorine (HA4-HYB-F) and total chlorine (HA4-HYB-T), with a measurement range of 0–5 ppm and a resolution of 0.01 ppm.

The DPD method can be configured to run at intervals from 2.5 to 100 minutes, and once the electrochemical sensor is calibrated, DPD typically runs less frequently (for example, once per hour), extending DPD reagent replacement from monthly to every six months.

Reagent and pump tubing are replaced every six months, while the cuvette and dosing head are replaced annually, which is significantly less frequent than many traditional DPD-only analyzers.

Manual calibration is not required for normal operation because the system self-calibrates using the DPD readings; manual calibration is only needed when regulations specifically require it.

The standard system includes one 4–20 mA output (expandable to four), with optional Modbus (TCP or RTU), Profibus, relays, and control modes such as PID, feed forward, flow proportional, and timer-based control.
